If you’re passing through Union Station this Friday, May 29, make sure to catch Cambalache, a Chicano-Jarocho group based in East Los Angeles. Cambalache plays and promotes traditional son jarocho in the spirit of the fandango, a traditional celebration of music and dance. They’ll be at Union Station’s East Portal from 4 to 6 p.m. You can listen to a sample of their music here.
Then on Saturday, celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with a special Metro Art Moves tour. The tour, led by artist and curator Sam Lee, meets at the street level plaza of Chinatown Station at 10:30 a.m. and travels along the Gold Line. It includes visits to Chusien Chang’s The Wheels of Change at Chinatown Station, Clement Hanami’s Through the Looking Glass or Traveling at the Speed of Light (Rail) at East LA Civic Center Station, and more! The tour wraps around noon — just in time for you to grab lunch, which you can do at Purgatory Pizza, located just across from Pico/Aliso Station. Show your TAP card to receive 10% off your order!
