Metro runs on Sunday/Holiday schedule this Memorial Day

Memorial Day Weekend is around the corner, so here’s what Metro is up to, service-wise:

This Friday through Sunday, May 22 to 24, all buses and trains will follow their regular, posted schedules. On Memorial Day Monday, Metro will run on Sunday/Holiday schedule. Bus riders please note: lines that don’t operate on Sundays won’t run this Monday, May 25.

Additionally, some Metro buses will experience detours due to the following Memorial Day Weekend events:

Blue Line customers awaiting this weekend’s service alert post… guess what? There isn’t one! Upgrade work is on pause this Friday through Sunday, which means Blue Line trains will follow the regular schedule.

Looking ahead, upgrade work will resume the weekend of May 29 through 31 at stations between Vernon and 7th Street/Metro Center. That weekend, and for the following two weekends, bus shuttles will replace Blue Line rail service between LATTC/Ortho Institute (23rd Street) and Vernon Station. This means Blue Line customers traveling from 7th Street/Metro Center or Pico Station will need to board the Expo Line for service to LATTC/Ortho Institute Station, where they can transfer to the Blue Line bus shuttle for no extra charge. Expo Line trains will arrive every 10 minutes, all weekend, while Blue Line bus shuttles are in effect.

Now that you know our plans for the holiday weekend, we hope you’ll factor us into yours! Metro Rail runs late until 2 a.m. every Friday and Saturday, making it easy to celebrate to the fullest while getting home safely (and sans surge pricing).

Finally, a reminder that you can follow us on Twitter @metrolosangeles or @metroLAalerts for real-time service updates, and a very happy Memorial Day Weekend from all of us here at Metro. Summer is finally here!
