Public open house Saturday for Gold Line Operations Campus in Monrovia

This should be a fun event. The campus is a very impressive facility and will eventually store many of the rail cars used on the Gold Line after the 11.5-mile Foothill Extension project opens in the first half of 2016. There will be a few rail cars on hand for the event to see.

The project is adding six stations to the Gold Line beyond the existing Sierra Madre Villa terminus: Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, downtown Azusa and Azusa/Citrus College/Azusa Pacific University. There are also plans to extend the project to Claremont and Montclair, although that segment is currently unfunded.

Here are some pics of the campus:

  1. Believe it or not, I’m considering making the drive from Camarillo to see this. It would be worth it to me.

  2. I was very interested, but Metro should have just posted ‘Locals Only’. No one in their right mind would get up early and drive through Saturday morning traffic for such a short event. Guess I’ll wait for the public viewing area to open.

    • Hi Mike;

      If the 210 is bad — and it’s usually okay on weekend mornings — Huntington Drive is a good alternative.

  3. Note the words: “elected officials” parking lot.

    • Do you really want elected officials and media around your cars, or even worse, your children?
