The public is invited to participate in Document(ING), a conversation and photo shoot with artist Kenturah Davis on Saturday, May 23 in Inglewood. Davis is one of 14 artists selected to create site-specific, integrated artworks for the Metro Crenshaw/LAX line. Her proposed project for Florence/La Brea Station is a series of portraits inspired by the possibilities of serendipitous observations that can happen on a train. Those who reside, work or maintain a significant connection with Inglewood are invited to be a part of history as the subjects of the drawings that Davis will develop for the station.

As part of her process for creating the artwork, Davis will host a public conversation with Inglewood native, resident journalist and poet Teka-Lark Fleming to discuss her art practice. Writer and Writ Large Press publisher Peter Woods, also an Inglewood native, will introduce Davis and Fleming. Following the conversation, attendees are welcome to participate in a photo shoot from which Davis will select portraits to develop into drawings that will in turn become part of the final artwork at Florence/La Brea Station.

Light refreshments will be available and there is free street parking.

Space is limited and attendees will be admitted on a first-come, first-served basis. It is recommended that you arrive early.
