Go Metro Weekends, May 8 – 10

Friday

The biggest superhero film of 2015, Avengers: An Age of Ultron, is now playing in theaters! Marvel fans who haven’t seen the film are encouraged to check it out via Metro Rail. Take the Metro Purple Line to CGV Cinema, and after the show, get a coffee at the nearby Document Coffee Bar.  Metro riders can save 10% on drinks by showing their valid TAP card! (Metro Purple Line to Wilshire/Western)

Saturday

Tickets to this year’s Wango Tango  sold out fast, but it’s never too late to beat high gas prices and reduce traffic congestion. If you’re going to the show, hop on one of several Metro buses that stop a short distance from the StubHub Center in Carson, and join other music lovers as major artists like Kanye West, Justin Bieber and Calvin Harris put on an epic performance! (Metro Bus 45, 205 or 246 to Avalon/Victory)

Sunday

Meet up with expert art guides at Union Station for the next free Metro Art Moves tour.  Tourists will depart the information booth on the Alameda Street entrance at 10:30 a.m. From there, you’ll explore Metro’s diverse art collection throughout Union Station East, the Gold Line portal and Metro Headquarters. (Metro Gold, Silver, Red or Purple Line to Union Station)

Head to the East Los Angeles Art Walk and spend your Mother’s Day enjoying free concerts, art galleries and flea markets sponsored by local business owners in the community. This Sunday and every second Sunday of each month, the art walk  is held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.  just one block away from the Metro Gold Line Indiana Station. After you revel in all the festivities, visit the Queztal Boutique and show your TAP card to save %15 on a gift for mom! (Metro Gold Line to Indiana Station)

All Weekend

Nothing beats homemade gifts, and there’s no better place to find that personal touch your mom is sure to appreciate than this year’s Echo Park Craft Fair.  Saturday and Sunday,  Mark Sennett Studio will host the fair with more than 70 artists and craftsmen selling various creations from jewelry, weavings, ceramics and more! (Metro Bus 2 to Fountain/Bates)

Al Pacino fans will rejoice this weekend as the actor himself hosts a four-day tour at Cinefamily in the Silent Movie Theatre from May 8- 11. Pacino will share special moments throughout his acting career on and off Broadway and discuss highlights from his iconic role as Tony Montana in Scarface and other films never before played in L.A. Ticket prices to Al Pacino: Theatre & Film: An Actor’s Vision vary each day. (Metro Bus 10/48, 217 or 218 to Melrose/Fairfax)
