Sustainable construction forum to be held April 13-14

Los Angeles, CA. (Feb., 2015) –Presidential appointee Carolyn Flowers, Senior Advisor, U.S. Federal Transportation Administration ,will be the keynote speaker for the 2015 Sustainability Construction Forum & Tours.

Los Angeles County Transportation Authority (Metro) and Los Angeles Sustainability Coalition (LASC) would like to invite you to attend on April 13th and 14th, the 2015 Sustainability Construction Forum.   The Forum will be held at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) Headquarters. The purpose of this forum is to provide a venue for public agencies, such as LA Metro, public agencies and construction industry leaders to interact and address issues and solutions to ensure the seamless implementation of sustainability strategies in our regions for construction projects. 

National  Sustainability Experts across are speaking at the Sustainability forum.

As you know, LA Metro is currently embarking on the largest transportation construction program in the country for the next 30 years.  LA Metro has been one of the most proactive transit agencies in the country by introducing many policies and programs that led to the most robust sustainability program that has simultaneously and significantly reduced our construction and operational cost.  LA Metro’s efforts has been awarded the following:

– Operational Sustainability: a Sustainability Commitment Platinum Recognition by the  American Public Transportation Association;

– Energy Program: Highest Level of Recognition by the Alliance to Save Energy;

– Environmental Management System (EMS): Nationally top rated ISO 14001 certified EMS as determined through an independent study by Columbia University;

– EMS Environmental Training Institute: National Model Award by the National Transit Institute

– Environmental and Operational Sustainability: recognized as one of the most visionary programs by the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO).

LA Metro has been cited by the American Public Transportation Association, the Federal Transit Administration and the National Academies’ Transportation Research Board as a prime example of how sustainability programs should be run. 

The 2015 Sustainability Construction Forum is looking to showcase Sustainability solutions. We want Industry Leaders to attend who are forward-thinking and are consistently ahead of the construction industry.
