I suspected that the first CicLAvia in the San Fernando Valley would attract a crowd. I didn’t expect that big of a crowd. Folks rode there, took the Red Line there, drove there, walked there. In 20 years living in L.A., I think it was the first time I had traveled more than a quarter-mile on Lankershim Boulevard or Ventura Boulevard outside a motor vehicle.
Many thanks to everyone for coming out to the event, which Metro helped sponsor, and for Valley merchants for tolerating and/or supporting the road closures. Great job by city of L.A. staff and (of course) for CicLAvia staff for pulling it together. Now that your bikes are out of the garage, use them once in a while! 🙂
The next CicLAvia is May 31 in Pasadena — and easily accessible from the Metro Gold Line.
