The Million Dollar Theatre and Grand Central Market are teaming up for an evening of 30s-themed fun this Friday. From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., enjoy live jazz and ragtime tunes by the California Feetwarmers at GCM. Select vendors will stay open late so you can enjoy dinner before heading over to the Million Dollar Theatre for a screening of Arthur Penn’s Bonnie and Clyde. The iconic 1967 film starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $10. (Metro Red/Purple Line to Pershing Square Station or various Metro buses serving Broadway or Hill Street.)

Bach ready to party like it’s 1685

“Happy Bach Day to you…” If you’re passing through Union Station this Saturday, keep your eyes and ears open for musicians performing in the 10-hour Bach music marathon, part of a global celebration of the musician’s birthday (March 21) back in 1685.

The 16th-Annual Mexica New Year Los Angeles takes place all day at Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights. There will be a Danza Aztec ceremony, mixed-music concert, local artists and vendors with wares from North, South and Central America. Eat, Shop, Play Crenshaw is hosting a community festival at Leimert Park Village from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free to attend and will feature food, live music, art and fun activities for the whole family.

And the community gatherings keep on coming! Compton Mayor Aja Brown and Crop Circles are kicking off the Healthy Compton Initiative from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Compton MLK Monument, where there will be a farmer’s market, cooking demonstrations, health screenings, fitness activities, and live entertainment for those who stop by. (Metro Blue Line to Compton Station then walk 8 minutes south and west on West Compton Boulevard and South Acacia Avenue.)

Learn more about financial literacy and utilize resources available from a range of non-profits at the Feria Financiera: Plan Prosperidad this Saturday at USC’s North University Park Campus. The fair is free and lasts from noon to 5 p.m. Show your valid TAP card at the USC booth for a complimentary reusable water bottle while supplies last! Sunday

Calling all bicyclists, pedestrians, skateboarders, unicyclers etc. etc.! Show your support for alternate transportation and see your city in a whole new way by taking part in CicLAVia’s inaugural car-free day in the San Fernando Valley. Don’t forget, your TAP card entitles you to a host of Destination Discounts at a variety of businesses along the route, as well as 15% off commemorative CicLAvia tees at the Coldwater Canyon Hub. Saturday is the opening night of Trinket, the highly-anticipated solo-exhibition by artist William Pope.L. at the MOCA Geffen Contemporary. Pope.L will be on hand Sunday at 3 p.m. to discuss his work with the show’s curators and the general public. The talk is free with regular admission ($12), and Metro riders get two-for-one entry to MOCA with valid TAP card. (Metro Gold Line to Little Tokyo/Arts District Station.)

Finally, end your weekend on a high note with the eclectic musical stylings of  Of Montreal at The Regent Theatre in DTLA’s Historic Core. The Athens, Georgia-based band rolls experimental and psychedelic pop, glam, rock, funk, and disco all into one great sound. Take it from yours truly, they also put on one heck of a live show! Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $18-$20. (Metro Red/Purple Line to Pershing Square or various DTLA buses serving Main Street/Historic Core.)
