Celebrate (or bemoan) Valentine’s Day with an exploration of contemporary art in the Metro system and the timeless poetry of Shakespeare. Part of the Metro Art Moves tour series, the free, one afternoon only tour looks at artworks in the Metro system through the lens of The Independent Shakespeare Company, which will be along for the ride and will regale tour-goers by performing scenes involving the lovers in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Each scene will follow a discussion of select Metro station artwork, linking the artwork’s central message or architecture to the performance.
The tour takes place on Saturday, Feb. 14 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tour will depart from the information booth at the Alameda Street entrance to Union Station at 3:00 p.m.
The free, one afternoon only tour travels from Union Station to South Pasadena viewing works of art representing travel, change, and dreams, and witnessing the journey of love among four characters.
Tour is limited to the first 50 attendees. First-come first-served.
The tour is approximately 90% walking. There are elevators and escalators in all of the stations. Public restrooms are available at Union Station.
