Dates are certainly not required for Valentine’s Day — especially if you, like me, prefer to celebrate an Anna on that day — but if you change your mind at the last minute and decide you absolutely must find a date for Saturday night, Speed Dating on the Red Line will give you a chance to meet someone!
Grab your TAP card (and my hand) and join us on the Red Line from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13. Participants will be able to register at four stations: Union Station, 7th Street/Metro, Hollywood/Vine and North Hollywood. Once you sign in, you’ll get a wrist band and Metro pin, and then you’ll be able to board any Speed Dating train car during event hours.
Special guests from the L.A. Kings, L.A. Clippers, the Harlem Globetrotters, the Hollywood Pantages and Da’ Hip-Hop Wizzard of Oz will help with the matchmaking, along with two Metro Cupids! Plus, a special flower cart and See’s Candies will offer deals for daters at Union Station.
If you happen to make a match during speed dating, we’ve got some date ideas that continue the theme of transit, fun and love. If not, don’t sweat it. Go out with friends or by yourself, have some fun, save some money. (Watch that new Colin Firth movie. Do not see Mr. Grey.)
Speed Dating on the Red Line is free to the public, but all participants must be 18 years or older and are responsible for their own valid transit fare media. Participants must adhere to Metro’s Customer Code of Conduct…which could be beneficial to your love life, as the video below “proves.”
