At their January meeting, the Gateway Cities Service Council discussed the idea of moving their monthly meetings to a later time to make it more convenient for the public to attend and participate. Since the room they currently hold their meetings at is currently not available in the evening, a change in time will likely necessitate a change in location. Two potential new meeting sites were identified, but before the Service Council makes a decision, they are seeking public input and guidance on what the best location might be.
The Service Council is leaning strongly towards pushing their meeting time from the current 2 p.m. starting time to 6 p.m., although 5 p.m. is also being considered. As of now, they would keep the same day of the month they normally hold their meetings on – the second Thursday of each month. One of the main criteria used in selecting the new meeting location is public transit access to the meeting site. The two new locations they are considering are:
Aspire Pacific Academy in Huntington Park
2565 E 58th St, between Pacific Blvd and Santa Fe Ave, just NE of Slauson
Metro Transit Connections include lines 60, 108/358, 251, 751 and 760
Douglas F. Dollarhide Community Center in Compton
301 Tamarind Avenue, between Wilmington and N Alameda, E Rosecrans and W Compton Blvd
Metro Transit Connections include lines 51/52/352, 60, 125, 127, 128 and 202, ¼ mile from Blue Line Station
