This past Saturday, the Ideal Youth summer intern program took 70 students on a Metro trip to the Staples Center to see the L.A. Clippers take on the Dallas Mavericks. The event was part of the organization’s annual “City of Pasadena NBA Experience – Celebrating Youth Internship Awareness” event. For many of the participants, it was their first time riding Metro.

“We’re really happy to make Metro a part of the NBA Experience,” said Ishmael Trone, co-founder of Ideal Youth. “Public transit is great way to explore and get around the city. Now that they’ve learned how to ride Metro, some of the students will be able to apply for internship opportunities further away from home because they know they’ll have reliable transportation.”

Ideal Youth is a Pasadena based organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy through interactive, hands-on advanced job training and internships. The group works with many at-risk youths from low-income families.

Metro offers reduced fare K-12 Student TAP cards to help kids get to classes, club activities and more. A 30-Day Pass is $24, and single one-way fare is $1.

Metro riders also receive a 10% discount when purchasing Clippers gear at the Team LA Store!
