  1. I’m disappointed by this list. Almost every location is a train station. In order for the bike share system to work it has to connect the stations to homes and major destinations. If I want to travel between tran stations I can just take the train! Places where bike share works best have stations spread all over the city, so you’re never more than a five minute walk from the nearest station. They are so ubuquitous that you don’t even need a map to find the next station. Otherwise you end up with a system like they have in San Francisco. There are plenty of stations in downtown and around the waterfront, but if you’re anywhere else it’s tough luck.

    • Of course, this is just the most popular stations. If everyone were to vote for a station near their home or work or favorite destination, and a station near a convenient transfer point from Metro rail, then of course the top places would be the rail stations, since the other submissions would be spread out among various destinations and origins.

Surely there will be far more than ten stations when this actually launches – this just gives a little bit of insight into what people are thinking.

(Also, 3rd and Traction isn’t very near any train station – looks like everyone wants to ride Metro downtown, hop on a shared bike, and then go to Wurstkuche!)
