Welcome to another edition of Go Metro Weekends! As always, we try to keep your weekends, wallets and bellies full.

Friday

Another chapter in the Hallway Series rivalry will be written as the Chris Paul-less Clippers host the Kobe Bryant-less Lakers on Friday at 7:30 p.m. If you’re a Clipper fan (like myself), go ahead and grab some gear from the team store and get 10% off with your TAP card. (Metro Blue/Expo Line to Pico Station, Metro Silver Line to Figueroa/12th)

Saturday

The Network of Indian Professionals will be hosting its annual Kites Festival in the City of Long Beach from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The event will take place at Ocean Blvd and 54th Place on the beach. All are welcome and kites will be sold to anybody interested in participating! There will be an Indian food truck and vendor booths at the festival as well. The Los Angeles Kings, with goalie Jonathan Quick back in the lineup, host the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Staples Center. Because of realignment, this is the Red Wings’ only trip to L.A. in 2014 — unless the Kings and Red Wings should meet in the Stanley Cup Finals. Quick and Kings captain Dustin Brown will be playing for the United States at the Winter Olympics in Sochi next month. The Red Wings are sending 10 players to Sochi, including goalie Jimmy Howard who will also be wearing a USA jersey. (Metro Blue/Expo Line to Pico Station, or walk from 7th/Metro Center Station)

In addition, artist Christine Nguyen will be on hand to sign Metro Long Beach posters at Stearn’s Champions Park. (Long Beach Transit Bus 112)

Sunday

The City of Pasadena kicks off its third annual Cheeseburger Week this Sunday! Head out on a Cheeseburger Crawl – there’s one that starts at Haven Gastro Pub and ends at Slater’s 50/50 that sounds pretty delicious and transit friendly. (Metro Gold Line to Memorial Park Station, Metro Bus 180 to Colorado/De Lacey)

Also, there’s the reenactment of the signing of The Articles of Capitulation at Campo De Cahuenga. Festivities start at 1 p.m. (Metro Red Line to Universal City/Studio City Station)

All Weekend

The Los Angeles Philharmonic performs Dvorak’s “New World” symphony at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights and at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
