Came across this video of an experimental crosswalk traffic signal in Germany while surfing the web this weekend…it allows you to play a game of pong with someone on the other side of the street while waiting for the light to change. Now the real question is: can we have something like this installed in L.A.? I’d love to test it out!

Not sre if it wold work here, Americans are not as friendly as those in Germany when interacting with strangers.
I am sure it is not worth the money.
This would be great, if we had this in LA.
I’m pretty sure there are dumb laws and regulations that prevent any type of fun like this to happen here in CA. After all, we live in a nanny state where cops shut down kids’ lemonade stands because they don’t have business licenses and county health certificates.
@mike dunn : Then again, the friendly competition encouraged by this kind of devise might play to Americans’ uber-competitive nature! However, I’d prefer to see walk signal countdown timers (*not* hand signal countdown timers) instead. 🙂
Why not let the pedestrians control the traffic signals. That be a fun game.
What is the point of this?
Are we so ADD that we can’t even stand still and just focus for a couple minutes on the task of crossing the road?
The last thing we need is more distracted pedestrians.
