And now there are train tracks across Overland Avenue for the second phase of the Expo Line!

Work was completed over this weekend, as shown in the above photos. Westwood Boulevard got the same treatment last weekend.

The project to extend the Expo Line six miles from Culver City to downtown Santa Monica is now halfway complete. The project is funded by the Measure R sales tax increase approved by L.A. County voters in 2008. It is currently forecast to open in early 2016.

  1. Are they going to remove those power lines above the tracks?
I am so disappointed that in some area the power lines are not being put under to clean up the visual blight in the area and now we are adding the catenary lines to the mix. Missed opportunity.

  2. I’m hoping there will be crossing gates? Not because I’m worried about traffic, I just want the train to go as fast as it can! 🙂

  3. With no proper EXEMPT signage, do buses and hazmat trucks have to stop at the (unused) tracks???
