Due to two federal holidays this month — Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving — there has been a slight rejiggering of the Service Council meetings.
To avoid a conflict with Veteran’s Day, the San Gabriel Valley Service Council elected to shift their meeting to Wednesday, November 20. The time (5 p.m.) and location (Metro Division 9 building adjacent to El Monte Station) will remain the same.
The other Service Councils will conduct their meetings on their regular schedules, as indicated below. Please note that some of the presentations listed below are tentative at the time of this posting.
All November Service Council meetings will include a report from Metro Service Council Director Jon Hillmer, who will provide statistics on August ridership, performance and other measures of Metro service. Other agenda items at Council meetings include:
San Fernando Valley (6:30 pm, Wednesday, 11/6) –Presentation on East San Fernando Valley Transit Corridor Study; Presentation on Metro’s Bike Program; Report on Orange Line Lassen Bridge Closure; Update on Lines 94/794, 154 and 239 Proposed Minor December Service Changes.
Westside/Central (5 pm, Wednesday, 11/13) – Report on Dodger Express; Report on Expo Line/Bus interface with Culver City; Presentation on Metro’s Bike Program.
Gateway Cities (2 pm, Thursday, 11/14) – Swearing in of new Gateway Cities Service Council member Aja Brown, Mayor of Compton; Approval of Semiannual Evening Gateway Cities Service Council Meetings; Update on Transfer of Caltrans Norwalk and Artesia Station Parking Lots; Report on Gateway Cities COG Strategic Plan; Presentation on Metro’s Service Change Process.
South Bay (9:30 am, Friday, 11/15) – Update on Chair’s Follow-up Items, including Gold Line South Pasadena Sign Correction, Metro Policy on Bus Temperature Settings, Lighting at Avalon and Vermont Green Line Stations, Bus Stop Maintenance; Update on Minor Service Changes (Lines 102, 117,120, 206, 212, and 910).
San Gabriel Valley (5 pm, Wednesday, 11/20 – different day than normal due to Veteran’s Day conflict) – Update on Line 485 Regional Meeting; Presentation Division 9 Bus Maintenance; Directors Report will include information on customer complaint types and a response to questions regarding Veteran’s fares. Please note that the San Gabriel Valley Service Council will hold their December meeting at a different location to receive public input on Line 485 and potential service improvements. That meeting is scheduled for December 9 at 5 pm, and will be held at The Alhambra, located at 1000 South Freemont (NE corner of Freemont and W Mission Rd. ), Lower Floor, Room 2051 of Building A2. More information about that meeting will be posted later.

As always, the public is encouraged to attend and share their comments with the Service Councils on improving bus service throughout LA County. If you would like to provide input to a Council but cannot attend a meeting, you can submit your comments in writing through the Service Council web page or send them by email. Trying to figure out why the “Gold Line South Pasadena Sign Correction” is a concern of the South Bay Service Council.
