Photos by Expo Line Fan

It is with a bit of sadness that we today post the final three photos of Expo Line Phase 2 construction from Expo Line Fan, who for the past few years has been faithfully chronicling the project’s construction from downtown to Santa Monica.

Expo Line Fan has taken a job back East, so this is it — but he promises to return for the Phase 2 opening.

Metro and the Expo Line Construction Authority wishes to thank Expo Line Fan for his interest in the project and for sharing his photos. Check out his website for many more construction pics.

  1. Hi Steve,
    Very sorry to learn of Expo line fans
    departure, Always enjoyed his efforts. BTW anyone check out or send pics of the old L.A. Transit (Yellow Car)#5 line tracks exposed on Hawthorne Blvd +
    Arbor Vitae ST in Inglewood last week because of street improvement/construction?

    • Hi Anthony;

      I believe another reader mentioned the tracks on Hawthorne the other day but I don’t believe I’ve got pics yet. If you live in the area and can shoot it, that would be great. I’m going to be out shooting today, but in other parts of town.

  2. Steve,

    I agree that safety is first. Having said that, it was extremely disappointing to see the expo line phase 1 delayed multiple times and than to run into problems during operation. Let’s be honest, phase 2 +1-2 years is more like it at Metro.

    • Hi Erik;

      I’m not really sure what to make of your comment, but I’m guessing it’s some type of insult. Yes, I remain somewhat loyal to the place where I was born and lived for more than 20 years.

    • Umm, he’s moving to Ohio not to the great beyond…unless you equate Ohio to the pearly gates!!!! I can say that because I’m 100 percent born and bred in the Buckeye State.

  3. Which line will be completed first…the Expo to Santa Monica, or the Gold to Azusa? The race is on.

    • Not a race! What’s important is that each project is well constructed. Please keep in mind, too, that the Foothill project is 11.5 miles compared to 6.6 for Expo Line and that the maintenance facility for Foothill is a very large campus. Both projects are making great progress.
