Tonight is Celebrate L.A., the mayor’s farewell block party at Grand Park from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. It’s open to the public, and if you get there early you can score free nachos. Heading to the Jubliee Music Fest? The festival, which used to take place in Silver Lake, is now at the downtown Arts District. Doors open at 3 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, and the last bands finish up around 2 a.m. A one day pass is $35, and a weekend pass is $55. (Metro Gold Line to Little Tokyo/Arts District Station)
Don’t miss the 13th annual L.A. River Ride on Sunday. Cyclists of all ages are welcome to join. The ride begins at 7 a.m. from Griffith Park – if you just want to ride half the length, start from the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Go Metro to save $5 on registration fees. (Metro Bus 96 to Western Heritage/Zoo for Griffith Park, Metro Blue Line to Long Beach Transit Mall for Aquarium of the Pacific)
It’s the last First Friday at the NHM – which actually takes place on Sunday! If you’re going to celebrate the NHM’s Birthday Bash, go Metro! The Expo Park/USC Station drops you off at the entrance way.
