Metro to detour line 460 due to Alondra Boulevard bridge demolition work

Here’s the news release from Metro:

Effective at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 9, buses operating on Metro Line 460 in the Cerritos-Santa Fe Springs-Norwalk area will be detoured due to the demolition of the Alondra Boulevard Bridge. The reconstruction of the bridge, which is part of the Caltrans Freeway Widening Project on the I-5 Freeway between the Orange County Line and the I-605 Freeway, is scheduled to take approximately one year to complete.

During the construction period, Metro Line 460 ( Downtown Los Angeles – Disneyland via Harbor Transitway & 1-105 Freeway) will operate its regular route from downtown Los Angeles to Rosecrans Avenue and Carmenita Road then continue east via Rosecrans Avenue, south on Valley View Avenue to Alondra Boulevard, then resume regular route via Alondra Boulevard to south terminal.

From south terminal to downtown Los Angeles, service will operate regular route to Alondra Boulevard and Valley View Avenue, then north on Valley View Avenue, west on Rosecrans Avenue to Carmenita Road, and then resume regular route via Rosecrans Avenue to downtown Los Angeles.  Along the detour route stops will be made in both directions on Rosecrans Avenue at Carmenita Road and on Alondra Boulevard at Valley View Avenue.

The following stops will not be served during the detour:

Carmenita & Mapledale

Carmenita & Excelsior

Carmenita & Molette

Alondra & Carmenita

Alondra & Commerce

Alondra & Marquardt (eastbound)

Alondra & Firestone (westbound)

In addition, connections to Metro Line 128 will not be possible during this detour.

Metro apologizes for an inconvenience this detour may cause bus patrons while Caltrans completes these highway improvements. Patrons may experience some occasional delays.

  1. Why couldn’t line 460 be rerouted to operate on the 1-5 freeway as the route originally did before 2008?
