Information being sought in shooting on Blue Line

At 6:16 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot on a southbound Blue Line at 5th Street and Long Beach Boulevard in downtown Long Beach, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. The LASD tweeted that three to four suspects were subsequently seen running eastbound down 6th Street in Long Beach. The victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Transit Services Bureau at (323) 563-5000.

  1. I agree with Ayana G. I have been riding the blue line everyday for 5 years now and I have never seen fewer authorities than in the past few months. Has the expo line thinned out Metro’s resources?

  2. Haven’t seen sheriffs on the Long Beach stretch of the Blue Line in months. Obviously, this is where security needs to be.

  3. I hope the victim is okay. Did this occur on board the train? I prefer riding the Silver Line instead.
