Go to Leimert Plaza Park on Saturday for a little taste of New Orleans. The 7th Annual New Orleans Cultural Festival features dancing, soul food, Creole/Cajun cuisine, arts and crafts vendors and more. The Mardi Gras Parade is at noon, but the event starts at 11 a.m. and lasts until 6 p.m. Admission is free, and if you go Metro you will receive free Mardi Gras beads. If you like funky music, head to Ford Amphitheatre on Saturday for Funk-a-Fair. Funk band MANDRILL joins Lowrider Band for an evening of soulful rhythm and blues. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and tickets start at $30. Go Metro and receive $6 off general adult admission, use the code METRO if purchasing tickets online. It seems like there’s another night market in town, although this one isn’t free to attend. LUCKYRICE Night Market debuts in Los Angeles at Culver City’s Helms Bakery District this Saturday. Rising stars in the food business will join celeb chefs in the East Asian Design Warehouse at H.D. Buttercup to bring glitz and glamour to Asian street food, and fancy beverages will abound. General admission is $50 (plus tax and fees) and covers all your food and drink; tickets are going fast. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and lasts until 10 p.m. This is a 21+ only event. Take in some jazz on Sunday at Santa Monica’s Jazz on the Lawn, happening. Taking place at Stewart Street Park, the event not only features live music but also frozen treats and complimentary drinks. This Sunday’s band is The Dustbowl Revival, and they’ll be playing from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free, and Jazz on the Lawn also offers free bike valet.
