Saturday is a good day for train enthusiasts as Union Station hosts National Train Day. There will be food, entertainment and fun activities. Bring your kids to meet Dora the Explorer and learn about trains and rail safety. The event starts at 11 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m. Admission is free. Searching for a last minute gift for Mother’s Day? Check out UNIQUE LA, happening at the California Market Center this Saturday and Sunday. Over 300 local designers and artists will have their cutest, quirkiest and most random wares on sale at the event. Free drinks will be available. The event also features Caine’s Arcade and you can meet the 9-year-old boy who built the cardboard arcade. Tickets are $10 and include unlimited re-entry for the weekend as well as an exclusive tote bag. Ten percent of all ticket sales will go to CicLAvia. This weekend is also the second week of REDCAT International Children’s Film Festival. The festival will screen short films by filmmakers from around the world and include all genres, from enchanting animation to moving live action. Screenings for both Saturday and Sunday are at 12 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Check the official site for the list of movies. Tickets for each film are $5.
