Metro Rail Operations have issued the following announcement:
To all Red and Purple Line passengers:
Beginning Sunday, April 22, Metro will begin a Signal System upgrade project on the Red and Purple Lines, between Union Station and Westlake/MacArthur Park Station. The project is split into two phases:
Phase 1 – Outbound track to North Hollywood or Wilshire/Western, April 22 to approximately June 1, 2012
Phase 2 – Inbound track to Union Station, approximately June 1 to July 14, 2012
All trains will be required to run slower than normal operating speeds throughout the entire day on the track segments being upgraded. For Phase 1, Westbound trains will leave Union Station at the scheduled departure times. Passengers should expect up to a 4-minute increase in travel time between Union Station and Westlake/MacArthur Park Station, with minor residual delays to all other stations.
Metrolink passengers should allow up to 10 minutes of additional travel time to make their connections at Union Station.
Metro apologizes for the inconvenience and will work to complete this project as quickly as possible.
