Trespasser in subway tunnel causes delays Friday afternoon

As many of you are probably aware, there was a major delay to Red and Purple Line rail service earlier this afternoon due to a trespasser that was seen entering the train tunnel at the Vermont/Beverly station.

The trespasser was arrested nine minutes after he was seen but the station and a portion of one subway tunnel was evacuated and inspected by Sheriff’s Deputies and canines as a precaution. As a result, trains bypassed the station and had to use single track. The disruption to service ended about 4:30 p.m. with some residual delays.

The best way to get real-time service alerts is to follow the Metro alerts feed on Twitter or Metro’s main Twitter feed.
