If you are making plans for going out this holiday weekend, there is an alternative to driving: Metro Rail and the Orange Line busway will be running all night on New Year’s Eve and again on Sunday night-Monday morning.
Metro is offering free rides on all buses and trains between 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday to help people get around on New Year’s Eve. If you board a bus or train before 9 p.m. on Dec. 31 or after 2 a.m. on Jan. 1, please pay the appropriate fare.
Late night and early morning trains over the weekend will be running every 20 minutes. Buses and trains on Sunday and Monday will be running on regular Sunday/holiday schedules, but there will be extra cars for additional capacity on the Gold Line and Red Line.
And Gold Line trains on Monday will be running every six to eight minutes to and from Pasadena to serve those attending the Tournament of Roses Parade and the Rose Bowl game.
Here’s the news release from earlier this week with more information.
