Night-time closures of Sepulveda Boulevard begins tonight between Montana and Sepulveda Way

Here’s the news release from Metro:

The I-405 Sepulveda Pass Improvements contractor will remove the abutments on the east side of Sunset Boulevard Bridge in West Los Angeles, work that requires the night-time only closure of Sepulveda Boulevard between Montana Avenue and Sepulveda Way for three consecutive nights beginning Wednesday, November 16. Motorists will be required to detour around the area during the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The contractor recently completed the demolition of the Sunset Boulevard Bridge spans over the I-405 freeway and Sepulveda Boulevard.  The Sunset Bridge’s north side reconstruction is anticipated to take twelve months.

What: Demolition of Sunset Boulevard Bridge abutments

When: Abutment demolition on the eastside of the bridge is scheduled for Wednesday, November 16, 2011 for three consecutive nights.  Demolition activities are from 11 p.m. through 6 a.m. Activities are weather permitting and subject to change.

Where: Sunset Boulevard Bridge at the I-405 freeway

What to expect: Northbound Sepulveda Boulevard traffic will be detoured to Eastbound Montana Avenue, to Northbound Veteran Avenue to Westbound Sunset Boulevard to Northbound Church Lane, back to Sepulveda Boulevard.

Southbound Sepulveda Boulevard traffic will be detoured to Southbound Church Lane to Eastbound Sunset Boulevard to Southbound Veteran Avenue, to Westbound Montana Avenue, back to Sepulveda Boulevard.

Sunset Boulevard will remain open.

Closure of Sepulveda Boulevard will NOT be simultaneous with full freeway closures.

Freeway lane closures may start as early as 10 p.m.

Northbound ramps and Eastbound Sunset Boulevard to Southbound 405 closures on the Sunset Bridge will be coordinated with Caltrans.  Ramp closures may start as early as 7 p.m.

Street closures will be in place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Pedestrians will be rerouted to an area outside the construction zone.

Emergency access will be maintained on the bridge at all times.
