Westside bus delays possible this afternoon due to President Obama’s visit

Unfortunately, I don’t have anything in the way of specific information on how the President’s visit may impact bus service later this afternoon. As is always the case, only the most general description of the President’s travel plans are released ahead of time for security reasons.

What we know from the White House is that the President is expected to arrive at LAX at 4:45 p.m. and then travel to Hancock Park for a pair of fundraisers. In the past, the President has used a helicopter to travel from LAX to Westwood before hitting the streets.

If you’re riding public transit, now would be a good time to start following Metro’s service alerts twitter feed: @metroLAalerts. You can also check Metro Service alerts at http://www.metro.net/service/advisories/.

Metro’s customer service phone number is 323-GO-METRO; Big Blue Bus’s is 310-451-5444; and Culver City Bus’ is 310-253-6510.

Big Blue Bus has this notice posted on its website: “Possible Service Delays 10/24-10/25 Routes 1, 2, 3, 8 and 12 may be delayed during the afternoon and evening of Monday, 10/24 and the morning of 10/25 due to President Obama’s visit to Los Angeles. BBB recommends allowing extra time to complete your trips on Monday and Tuesday.”
