The art of transit

I think it takes a lot of guts to ride a bike in this town or drive a bus — you really have to be on top of your game all of the time. Carter took this photo on the Miracle Mile section of Wilshire Boulevard using the iPhone’s Instagram app.

To submit a photo for the Art of Transit, post it to Metro’s Flickr group, email it to sourcemetro@gmail.com or Tweet it to @metrolosangeles with an #artoftransit hashtag. Many of the photos we’ve featured can be seen in these galleries on Flickr.

  1. While yes legally, its okay for bicycles to ride in lanes, it does put into question if bicyclists these days are aware of blindspot safety and the hazards of driving in the streets.

Back in my day, kids were taught basic bicycling safety rules at school. Even as a kid I knew that driving between two big vehicles spells a recipe for disaster and anyone that does it would have to be either insane or have no regard for their own life.

Don’t schools teach basic bicycle safety anymore? Or were those scrapped from lack of funding too?

  2. Please sent his photo to MTA Corporate Safety Department and to MTA Operations Central Instruction and Improvement Department.
This is great safety photo of what not to do

  3. thats one reason i ride on the sidewalk
yes in los angeles you are allowed to ride
    on the side
looking at the photo the cyclist happens to be in the bus operator blind sport so if that bus would turn into the curb the cylist would be in world of hurt/trouble
