Board approves Metro’s participation in Arts District B.I.D.

The Metro Board voted to continue the agency’s involvement in the Arts District Business Improvement District in downtown Los Angeles.

As the owner of 15 parcels in the Arts District — including the subway rail yards — Metro would pay about $110,000 in taxes in the next fiscal year.

Here’s the staff report on the issue. Several people — including L.A. Councilwoman Jan Perry — spoke in favor of the B.I.D, while a few residents of the area questioned what they’re getting in return for the B.I.D. taxes.
