A loss of traction power to the Westlake/MacArthur Park Red Line station at approximately 2:30 p.m. is closing that station until power is restored. Trains are unable to pass through the station because the loss of power there has de-energized the tracks.
Crews are en route to determine the cause and resolve the issue. Meantime, the station closure is causing undetermined delays up to 20 minutes throughout the Red and Purple lines.
Passengers are advised to take Metro Rapid 720 bus between Pershing Square and Wilshire/Vermont stations until power is restored.
Trains are shuttling back and forth between Union Station and 7 th & Metro Center station. Purple Line trains are turning back at Wilshire/Vermont station to service through to Wilshire/Western station. Red Line trains to North Hollywood are turning back at Wilshire/Vermont stations to service through to North Hollywood.
Updates to follow.
