Trashy but tasty: Chick-Fil-A soon to hit the Metro dining map, got any other fast food faves?

Leave it to me to take the Go Metro Dining Map to the low-brow, but so inspired I am by today’s ground breaking of Chick-Fil-A on Sunset/Highland (three blocks from the Hollywood/Highland Red Line station) that I just have to know: what are your favorite fast food joints along the lines?

Let’s stick to those rarer fast food specimens like Chick-Fil-A (the Sunset location is the second in L.A. proper, and one of just a handful in the Southland), In-N-Out and King Taco. The McDonalds and Burger Kings of the world can probably fend for themselves.

Of course, burgers are a fast food specialty (don’t tell Chick-Fil-A) and last week we asked you for your suggestions on the best Metro convenient burger spots. Here’s what you told us:

Distinctly not fast food, Comme Ça is just down the street from a bus stop for Metro lines 10 and 105. Kim sums it up, “Yummy burger. Crunchy fries. Nice wines. What else is there?

Mark Vallianatos recommends Umami Burger in Los Feliz, just a five minute walk from the Vermont/Sunset Red Line station, for popularizing a little something called ‘the fifth taste‘. Probably worth discovering.

Blue and Green Line riders willing to take a bit of a hike (about .8 miles) from the Rosa Parks Station will be treated with what Sean calls the “best burgers in L.A., it’s death on a bun, but a sweet death indeed” at Hawkin’s House of Burgers.

Last but not least, Armando Carranza points us to Lucky Devils near the Hollywood/Highland Red Line station. The Bacon Blue in particular, which he describes as “savory and hearty, and you get a choice of turkey or kobe beef. Make sure you add the sweet potato fries to that, as well.

  1. I always enjoy checking out regional chains when I travel around the country. A couple of my favorites would have to be Burgerville up near Portland and Steak ‘n’ Shake in and around Indiana. And of course, Waffle House.

  2. I believe the first Chick-Fil-A in LA just opened near the future Metro Expo Line Expo Park/USC station. So at this moment, we got a Chick-Fil-A soon to be opened at an existing Metro Rail station and an existing Chick-Fil-A near a soon to be opening Metro Rail station.

On another note, for those with Filipino fast food cravings, the one chain that is more dominant than McDonalds in the Philippines, Jollibee, is located next to the Metro Red Line Beverly Station and 204/754/14 stop (no more 714 bus though).

    • Thanks for the tip about Jollibee, Tony. And it looks like Metro Rail will have the monopoly on Chick-Fil-A in L.A.
