  1. As somebody who took Metro to the West Hollywood Costume Carnival, I want to give my 2 cents on this adventure.

1st – getting there was easy with the Metro Red Line stop at Hollywood/Highland and decent frequencies on the 217 and 212 buses.

2nd – leaving the parade was ridiculous. It took twice as long to get back home. Metro was fully aware about how busy the West Hollywood costume carnival was going to be. Additional buses should have run on Fairfax and La Brea; just like how the Red Line was 6 car trains all afternoon and evening. Also, I waited 30 minutes after 11 pm and no 4 or 704 appeared on the eastside of Santa Monica blvd and Fairfax; where the signs were pointing. Metro should have provided more bus service to accomodate the crowds. Whenever there is a large city event with an expected attendance of over 200,000 (and no Metro rail access); please consider increased bus service on the most adjacent route to the event.

  2. Two things that should have been posted: 1) a map of the bus route detours and 2) Directions on how to get to the carnival from all four directions (N,S,E,W) given the bus detours.

  3. A map of the temporary routes would have been a lot more efficient for people trying to get to the event.
