CicLAvia, L.A.’s very own effort to open city streets to bicyclists, pedestrians, joggers, skateboarders and others for a fun-filled day of recreation and social integration, is coming this Sunday, Oct. 10. If you’re planning on attending this premier event, don’t even think about driving because of street closures. Use Metro Rail instead.
The 7.5-mile CicLavia route extends from East Hollywood to Boyle Heights, and can be reached by Metro Rail lines along the way. See the map above.
The event itself is free to the public, and will be held between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Families are welcome.
Metro Red/Purple Line stations at Civic Center, Pershing Square, 7th St./Metro Center, Westlake/MacArthur Park and Wilshire/Vermont are all within three blocks of the route. On Vermont Avenue, the Metro Red Line Station at Beverly is one block east of the route, and Vermont/Santa Monica Station is less than three-fourths of a mile from the northern point of the route at Melrose and Heliotrope. The Metro Gold Line Little Tokyo/Arts District Station is one block east of the route as it passes from downtown L.A. to Hollenbeck Park in East Los Angeles and back.
Several intersections along the route will allow cross traffic to pass through, but the event route will nevertheless impact Metro bus services in the area. Bus service will experience delays and detours between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday. Bus lines impacted are: Metro Line 2, 4, 10 (Rte. 48), 14 (Rte. 37), 16, 18, 20, 26 (Rtes. 51 & 52), 28, 30, 33, 40, 42, 53, 55, 60, 62, 70, 71, 76, 78 (Rte. 79), 81, 83, 84 (Rte. 68), 90 (Rte. 91), 92, 94, 96, 439, 445, 460, 485, 487, 603, 720, 733, 760, 794, and 910.
