Today in the art of transit

photos by Jeff Johnston (Non Paratus), via Flickr

Our ‘art of transit’ series returns to Los Angeles today with a nice pair of shots of the Soto Street station on the Eastside Gold Line. The photographer, Jeff Johnston, waited for the platform to clear of people to get the above photo late on a Saturday afternoon. The photo is actually three images blended together, a technique commonly called HDR. The photo at right is of the station’s elegant mezannine.

If you would like to a submit a photo or photos of something transportation-related, post them to Metro’s Flickr group or email them to The photos we’ve featured can be seen in these galleries on Flickr. Or click on the ‘art of transit’ below to view our daily posts.
