Go Metro to the Summer ArtsFest 2010 every Friday and Saturday during August and September and discover East Los Angeles as a cultural destination at the East Los Angeles Civic Center, along the Metro Gold Line Eastside Extension.
The Metro Gold Line will take you to the East Los Angeles Civic Center to enjoy movies, farmers market, art walk, dancing and live concerts. All activities are free of charge and open to the public.
Movies in the park will be shown on Friday at sundown August 6, 13, 20, 27 and September 3. All shows will be free. On Saturday’s, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., the activities include a farmers market where the public can find fresh fruits and vegetables. Activities at the public library will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the art walks will feature local artists and guided tours of public art.
The concerts are scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with Family Affairs playing oldies on August 7, Little Willie G & Thee East LA Philharmonic on August 14, and Sonsoles, a Spanish rock group will be on August 21..
After each concert, the public is invited to dance the night away until 9 p.m. with rhythm music such as Samba, Afro-Brazilian, Salsa and Hip-Hop basics. On Saturday, August 28, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. a Taste of East L.A. will feature more than 20 of the best restaurants in East Los Angeles.
