Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood will be closed during rush hour today and Metro Local bus 2 will be detoured to make way for a planned protest by the food service workers union Unite Here, Local 11.

Traffic diversions will begin at about 4:30 p.m. and end at 9 p.m., or when streets are reopened. Sunset will be closed between La Cienega Boulevard and Sweetzer Avenue. Buses will be rerouted to Santa Monica Boulevard between La Cienega and Crescent Heights.

The protest is part of a 15-city action to call attention to what the union says are planned layoffs and cutbacks at Hyatt Hotels. Andaz West Hollywood hotel, near Sunset and La Cienega, is part of the Hyatt chain.
