Our transit blogging neighbors to the north, Vancouver TransLink’s Buzzer Blog, have designated July 12-16 as I Love Transit Week. Why have a week to celebrate transit? Here’s what the Buzzer’s main blogger, Jhenifer Pabillano, says:
Because while there are things we don’t like about transit, I know there are many things that we do like about the system. And there just hasn’t been an official opportunity to celebrate what we like – until now!
Sounds like a great idea, right? And considering that this week is the 20th anniversary of Metro Rail, we here at The Source think it makes sense to join in on the fun.
So this week look for posts celebrating Metro Rail’s 20th anniversary – how it’s changed L.A. County and what the future holds. In addition we’ll have posts celebrating transit in general, host a few polls to find out what readers like best about transit, feature stories from Metro employees who walk the walk and Go Metro and hopefully share some stories from our readers.
If you have a story to share, a picture you think captures why you love transit, a bit of poetry or song, anything really, shoot us an email at sourcemetro@gmail.com and we’ll feature it. Something else you can do: send a tweet to @MetroLosAngeles and tag it #ilovetransit for a special edition of Twitter Tuesday.
