Metro to issue report on Blue Line accident next Thursday

Metro officials say that they will release a full report to the agency’s Board of Directors’ Operations Committee next Thursday about the accident on Wednesday in which a Metro Blue Line train struck a Long Beach police vehicle.

A Long Beach police officer who was driving the vehicle suffered moderate injuries and 10 passengers on the train were hurt. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

The Long Beach Police Department issued a statement on Thursday night saying that videotape showed that the Blue Line train did not stop at a red signal.

The report by Metro will take into consideration all of the factors in the accident, including all of the conditions at the intersection. The train operator has also been interviewed.
