This morning’s train versus pedestrian incident that occurred on the Metro Gold Line is a fatality. It happened about 5:30 a.m. just south of the Del Mar station.
An African-American man believed to be in his 30s stepped in front of a southbound train and died at the scene. LASD and Pasadena Police are investigating.
All warning devices – bell, crossing arm gates, horn, flashing lights – were working properly, according to Metro officials. The coroner has not issued a statement.
Trains were single-tracking around the site of the incident until shortly before 8 a.m. when normal service resumed. This is the second fatality on the Metro Gold Line since it opened in the summer of 2003. The other fatality was ruled a suicide.
