With this being Bike Week LA, Metro just released its first new county-wide bike map since 2006. The map includes new bike facilities built in the past four years, some topographical features and enlarged views of key areas. Information is also being conveyed to Google for use in their bike directions feature on Google maps.

I included the above slice of the map because it shows how many bike lanes on streets that Santa Monica has compared to surrounding areas. Bike lanes are marked with paint, whereas bike routes are usually streets that officials say are good for biking. My experience is sometimes they are — and sometimes not.
