Here’s the news from Metro CEO Art Leahy’s daily email to staff:
Metro’s Hollywood & Vine transit oriented development will be presented the Green Building Environmental Leadership Award by Global Green USA at ceremonies slated for June 12, 2010. The keynote speaker at the event will be Lisa P. Jackson, the Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Other honorees include the University of California System (California Environmental Leadership Award) and James Cameron (Entertainment Industry Environmental Leadership Award).
The award recognizes the developers’ contribution to advancing green building and cleaner environment via the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Silver designation of the W Hollywood Residence and Hotel – the largest property in Southern California ever registered for LEED certification. The development sits atop Metro’s Hollywood and Vine subway station and includes a bus layover facility, the 300 room W hotel, a total of 596 residential units, including affordable and market rate apartments and condominiums, as well as almost 60,000 square feet of retail space
