I-405 Freeway Closures Planned between March 3-8

I-405 restriping efforts, also referred to as traffic lane delineation, continue this week beginning Wednesday, March 3 for five nights, weather permitting.  This work will be concentrated between National Boulevard and Skirball Center Drive.  This segment of freeway work will require full freeway lane and ramp closures.  Here’s the latest freeway closure construction notice:

What: Freeway Closure to delineate temporary traffic lanes.

When: Night-time work for freeway lane and ramp closures will begin the night of Wednesday, March 3, 2010 and morning of Thursday, March 4, 2010 for five nights, weather permitting.  Ramp closures may start as early as 8:00pm, followed by freeway lane closures at 9:00pm, and full freeway closures from 12:00am to 5:00am.  The freeway will begin to re-open to thru traffic at 6:00am

Where: San Diego Freeway (I-405) southbound between Sunset Blvd and National Blvd.  While these are full freeway closures, the work activities will be segmented. Segments are scheduled as follows:

Full Freeway Closure Segments Anticipated Day of Full Freeway Closure Time
Santa Monica Blvd. to National Blvd. March 3, 4, 5 Midnight to 5:00 am
Sunset Blvd. to Santa Monica Blvd. March 6, 8 Midnight to 5:00 am

What to expect:

Delineation of traffic lanes

  • Segmented closure between National Blvd. and Santa Monica Blvd. will require the closure of the I-10 eastbound and westbound connectors to the I-405.  For detour information please visit www.metro.net/405
  • Segment schedule and corresponding detour maps will be available at www.metro.net/405 prior to the related work activities.
  • There will be the same number of thru traffic lanes as there are currently at the completion of this activity.
