Did you know that Spain already has more than 1,200 miles of high-speed rail? And that by 2020 it wants to have more than 6,200 miles of high-speed rail — so that every resident lives within 30 miles of a high-speed rail station? PBS takes a look at a high-speed network that even President Obama says could be a model for similar efforts in the United States.
Speaking of trains in America, Amtrak announced that it’s adding free wi-fi to its Acela trains that run in the Northeastern U.S, so says Wired. That sounds great. What would sound greater? Some free wi-fi action on Amtrak’s popular coastal route in Southern California. I don’t mind the 2 1/2 hour, 100-mile trip to Santa Barbara, for example, but I would mind the slow trip less if I could read about exciting Los Angeles Kings hockey along the way.
Lacking the patience to wait for the City of Los Angeles to diagonally stripe a crosswalk in Venice, two different groups of people took matters into their owns, reports Curbed LA. “People Die Here,” is just one of the things that was painted on the pavement, so shows pics that Curbed has posted.
