All but two Metrolink tracks to reopen at Union Station

The latest from Metrolink — all but two tracks are going to reopen and officials may be able to open the two tracks by the afternoon rush hour:

After an evaluation of the damage to the Cesar Chavez Avenue underpass, Metrolink and City of Los Angeles engineers have determined that all but two of the tracks passing over the street can be opened now.  The two tracks that will remain closed until some additional measurements are made are tracks 7 and 8.  These are the tracks most San Bernardino and Orange County Line trains use.  Staff is formulating plans for evening train service to use alternate tracks in case the closure extends into the rush hour.  Metro Gold Line service has resumed.  Several midday Metrolink trains have been delayed by the track closure but train service into and out of Union Station on the remaining tracks should resume shortly.  Further updates will be provided as more information is made available.
