Revised 405 closure hours

Caltrans put out a press release Thursday with revised hours and locations for the night-time closures next week on the 405 freeway as part of the project to build a carpool lane between the Santa Monica Freeway and the Ventura Freeway.

The release:

CORRECTION

Northbound I-405 FULL FREEWAY CLOSURES TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK

WEST LOS ANGELES – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled the following closures of the northbound San Diego Freeway
(I-405).

Northbound I-405
Wednesday, January 13:
•    1 a.m. to 4 a.m. – All lanes from National Boulevard to the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10).
Thursday, January 14 and Friday, January 15:
•    Midnight to 5 a.m. – All lanes from I-10 to Santa Monica Boulevard.

The closures are necessary to enable striping work as part of the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV, or carpool) lane construction on northbound I-405 between the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10) and the Ventura Freeway (U.S. 101).

Motorists can expect additional closures for the next 4 weeks through the northbound I-405 corridor.

When this project, also known as the Sepulveda Pass widening, is completed in 2013, motorists will be able to use the carpool lane in both directions of I-405 from the San Fernando Valley to Orange County.
