I stumbled upon the video posted on the Metro Library YouTube channel thanks to a post from UCLA’s Be A Green Commuter blog.
It’s a promo video Metro produced to aid in the recruitment of bus operators, so obviously it’s a bit one-sided. But I found it contained some pretty good bits of information and insights about the job of operating a Metro bus. Personally, I enjoyed hearing that bus operators appreciate when passengers thank them, because I always try to say thanks as I’m getting off a bus but always worry that the operators find it annoying or patronizing.
The video also brings up chances for career advancement within Metro for bus operators, and considering that Metro’s current CEO was once a Metro bus operator, I have a feeling that’s no joke.
