An Eastside Extension train arrives at Union Station from East L.A.
I’m writing this on the Gold Line platform at Los Angeles Union Station. Here’s my advice: if you’re interested in riding the new Gold Line Eastside Extension for free today, get here now before lines grow long.
And it sure looks like they’re going to grow long as the day goes — Metro officials have set up a que in Union Station that goes the length of the tunnel under the tracks and back. The good news is that trains are leaving frequently — about five minutes apart at the moment — and they’re running at six cars long.
We’ll be posting pics and updates throughout the day. It’s a beautiful morning — so come and down and enjoy your new $898-million investment.
