Welcome to November readers, here are today’s transportation headlines to get your month started with lots of tasty transportation tidbits to chew on, courtesy of the Metro library. Not surprisingly, there’s plenty of coverage on the Gold Line Eastside Extension after last Friday’s media preview ride.
The LA Eastside Blog has a fantastic write up with tons of pictures to boot. The writer, El Random Hero, even caught Gloria Molina calling out her safety issues to Metro CEO Art Leahy.
The L.A. Times follows Armando Ybarra, a 70-year old Eastside native, as he rides the Gold Line Extension and recalls the community building spirit of streetcars he used to ride to school as a teenager. His thoughts on the new line? “I felt really good about it.”
Blogdowntown ponders whether Downtown residents will use the line, noting that it will be a lot easier for Downtowners to take advantage of once the Regional Connector is built. Commenters on the blog overwhelmingly seem eager to ride, Regional Connector or not.
Curbed LA caught up with Mayor Villaraigosa and got his recommendation for the best restaurant along the line: La Serenata De Garibaldi.
The Bus Bench blog has more first-person video from the motorman’s cab.
The rest of today’s headlines, including (gasp!) some about stuff other than the Gold Line, after the jump.
