A little chilly weather has never stopped me from spending a day at the beach. Sure, I might not be swimming, but a sunny, wind-swept day by the sea has its own charms. So hoodies up: who else likes to enjoy winter Los Angeles-style? Not only can you take the Expo Line to the beach in Santa Monica, the Beach Bus now runs 365 days a year for a direct connection between San Fernando Valley and the Pacific Ocean.
The Beach Bus connects with the Metro Orange Line at Warner Center Station. From there, it travels via Topanga Canyon to the Santa Monica Pier. Fare for the Beach Bus is $1 with a 50 percent discount for riders age 60 or over and those with disabilities. That’s a pretty good deal if you don’t want to navigate traffic and then search for parking. (I don’t drive in downtown Santa Monica because downtown Santa Monica streets drive me crazy ~ )
Getting to Santa Monica just got a little bit easier. And if a cold winter beach day just isn’t for you, hey — there are other things to enjoy in Santa Monica besides the ocean and the Pier. 🙂
